Equine Welfare
This is a program that passionately supports the lifetime care of Thoroughbred horses. Jump Off showcases the versatility of Thoroughbreds and their outstanding potential for a positive life after racing. The series was created to promote equine welfare as not every racehorse can win a Melbourne Cup or be a champion racehorse but they can go on to have a second career in an equestrian discipline after retiring from racing. These considerations have driven the careful selection of trainers, riders and sponsors taking part in the series.
Racing Victoria is a proud Major Partner of Jump Off. The Thoroughbred is the centrepiece of the racing industry and whilst the majority of horses that race don’t make the history books, every one of them is entitled to lifetime care and good health.
Racing Victoria’s vision is a leader in world-leading equine welfare practices and proud to help build a culture in which the safety and welfare of the racehorse is paramount to all participants and owners. Fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in equine welfare throughout the industry is critical to the success of the sport.
