From: Ali Geeves [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, 28 February 2020 1:41 PM To: Blong, Nick <[email protected]> Subject: equiprove - A knowledge platform that will collect, curate and connect Australian equine information

Good morning Nick, I have been forwarded your details with the understanding that you are currently looking after the issue of traceability/current lack thereof, in the Australian equine industry. I wish to introduce myself and make you aware of a knowledge platform that is currently in development, that will be able to help solve this issue.  I have attached a couple of PDF's for you to view and a YouTube link to a quick video outline equiprove and what it is we are trying to achieve. I would welcome any feedback, and would appreciate if we could organise a time to discuss equiprove further.  kind regards, Ali Geeves CEO and Co-Founder equiprove Pty Ltd 0432 530 003 www.equiprove.com

Hi Ali

Thanks for the introductory email and background information.

I have copied in Richard Webb who is the Director of our Animal Welfare team.

You may have seen recent media reporting that state and territory agriculture ministers have recently decided that Queensland and Victoria will jointly lead the development of a national horse traceability register. We expect this program of work will include a period of industry and public consultation on the scope and operation of the register, including relevant technologies and integrity systems.

It is too early still to know the details of this work program and timing of consultations etc, but I understand Queensland and Victoria will establish a working group to oversee the process. I suggest you reach out to the working group once it is established to introduce the equiprove platform.

In the meantime, if you haven’t already you may wish to make contact with state agriculture officials in relevant departments. Richard may be able to assist with providing contact details if needed.

Thanks again for the email.

Kind regards

Nick
